Getting started

Install fast, then run the self-check.

  1. 1

Download Opaq and move it into Applications.

  2. 2

Grant Screen Recording permission and reopen the app if macOS asks.

  3. 3

    Start with the sales-call preset.

  4. 4

Load the context pack before the meeting starts.

Tutorial

Your first meeting with Opaq.

Walk through an entire meeting — from opening the app to reviewing your post-call summary. Takes about 5 minutes to read, less than 1 minute to set up.

  1. 1

    Open Opaq and sign in

Launch the app from Applications. Sign in or create an account — your 14-day trial starts automatically with 5 free cloud AI messages.

Opaq runs as a background app with no dock icon. Look for it in the menu bar after launch.

  2. 2

    Pick a workflow

On the setup screen, choose Sales call (default) or Client meeting. These presets load the right AI behavior for each conversation type.

Other workflows like Discovery, Exec review, 1:1, and Standup are available under the meeting type selector.

  3. 3

    Fill in the meeting essentials

Add a desired outcome ("Secure the pilot"), attendee names with roles ("Sarah, Ops"), and paste your agenda or talking points.

These fields give Opaq the context it needs to generate relevant suggestions during the call.

  4. 4

    Load a playbook

Under Context and playbooks, choose a source: Playbooks for full objection-handling docs, Agenda for lighter context, or Light for minimal assistance.

Team playbooks managed by your org appear automatically. Personal playbooks can be imported from files.

  5. 5

    Run the self-check

Open the self-check card in setup. Confirm that the overlay appears on your screen but does not appear in a screen share or screenshot.

This step is critical before your first real call. If the overlay shows up in a screen recording, something is misconfigured.

  6. 6

    Start the session

Click the start button. The overlay appears top-center on your screen. It sits above your meeting app — visible to you, invisible to everyone else.

  7. 7

Use the overlay during the call

The Answer tab shows AI-generated talking points. The Transcript tab shows live transcription. Notes let you jot quick bullets. Chat lets you ask follow-up questions.

Use Cmd+Shift+H to show or hide the overlay. Cmd+Shift+E to toggle between compact and expanded size.

  8. 8

    End the session and review

When the call ends, stop the session. Opaq generates a summary with key decisions, action items, and follow-ups. Review it in the session detail view.

You can enhance your notes with AI, export the summary as Markdown, or share it directly to Slack or HubSpot.

Transcript

How-to

Operating during a live call.

The overlay has four modes. Switch between them with the tab bar at the top, or use keyboard shortcuts to jump directly.

Answer mode

AI-generated talking points based on what's happening in the conversation. This is the primary workspace during a live call.

  • Suggestions appear automatically as the transcript updates
  • Use Cmd+Enter to manually trigger a new suggestion
  • Navigate previous suggestions with Cmd+Left Arrow and Cmd+Right Arrow
  • Clear the workspace with Cmd+Backspace to start fresh

Transcript mode

A live, scrolling transcript of the conversation. Useful for reviewing what was just said or finding exact wording.

  • Auto-scrolls to the latest content by default
  • Scroll up manually to review earlier moments — a "Jump to latest" chip appears
  • Clear the transcript with Cmd+Shift+Backspace if it gets too long

Notes mode

Hybrid note-taking that combines your quick bullets with the full AI context. Available in meeting workflows.

  • Open with Cmd+Shift+N from any mode
  • Jot short bullets during the call — expand them later
  • Notes auto-save and carry over to the post-call summary

Chat mode

Ask the AI follow-up questions mid-call. Useful when you need a specific answer that the automatic suggestions haven't covered.

  • Type a question in the composer at the bottom
  • Context from the meeting (transcript, agenda, playbook) is included automatically
  • Great for quick lookups: "What pricing tier did they mention?" or "Summarize their main objection"

Coaching nudges

Contextual banners that appear when Opaq detects a moment worth acting on — an objection, a buying signal, or a risk.

Catch me up

Hit Cmd+Shift+C to get a mid-meeting summary. Useful when you join late or need to reset after a tangent.

Background mode

Toggle Cmd+Shift+O to hide the overlay but keep audio capture running. The transcript and notes continue building in the background.

Command palette

Press Cmd+K to open the command palette for quick access to actions without reaching for the mouse.

How-to

After the call ends.

When you stop a session, Opaq generates a structured summary and opens the session detail view. Four tabs give you everything from the call.

Summary

Auto-generated after the session ends. Contains key decisions, action items, and follow-ups extracted from the full conversation.

  • Copy the summary as Markdown for pasting into Notion, Confluence, or email
  • Save the summary to a file on your Mac
  • Share directly to Slack or HubSpot from the export menu

Notes

Your live notes from the meeting, editable after the call. Changes auto-save as you type.

  • Use the Enhance button to expand your bullet notes into polished prose with AI
  • Notes are stored locally and encrypted with an AES key held in your Mac's Keychain

Transcript

The full conversation transcript. Useful for reviewing exact wording or pulling quotes for follow-up emails.

  • Copy the transcript to clipboard from the export menu
  • Transcript is captured from system audio — what played through your speakers, not your microphone

Log

A timeline of AI interactions during the session — every suggestion, every question, every answer.

  • Expand individual entries to see the full response
  • Useful for reviewing what the AI suggested at specific moments in the call

What you can do next

Enhance notes

One-click AI rewrite that turns rough bullets into structured, readable meeting notes with context from the transcript.

Share to Slack

Send the summary to a configured Slack channel. Set up the webhook in your organization's integration settings.

Share to HubSpot

Create a CRM note with the meeting summary, decisions, and next steps. Attaches to the relevant contact or deal.

Export to file

Save the full summary as a Markdown file. Includes key decisions, action items, follow-ups, and your notes.

Self-check

Confirm behavior before a real call.

  1. 1

Start a meeting setup inside Opaq.

  2. 2

Open the self-check card in setup and show the overlay preview.

  3. 3

Open a screenshot or meeting-share preview.

  4. 4

Confirm the overlay appears only on your display.

Privacy and provider model

What stays local and what uses providers.

Saved sessions live on the Mac. Live transcription and answer generation can still use managed providers.

Opaq manages provider access. The desktop app never asks you to paste Anthropic, Deepgram, or OpenAI keys.

Questions can go to support@opaqai.com. Team rollout and pricing questions should go to sales@opaqai.com.
